Pastor Timm became pastor at Ascension in November 2000. He had been pastor of St. James Lutheran Church in Naperville since January 1993. Before that Roger had served in chaplaincy and teaching positions at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin (1989-1992), and Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania (1980-1988).

Other positions have included campus ministry at UCLA, teaching at Concordia College in Bronxville, New York, and parish ministry at St. John-Concordia Lutheran Church in the Bronx, New York.

Ordained in 1971, Roger's advanced degrees include an M.Div. from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, an M.A. from Washington University, St. Louis, and a Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary and Columbia University in New York.

Roger and his wife, Marilyn, live in Riverside and have two adult daughters, Sarah and Anne.  Pastor Timm was born in Neenah, Wisconsin, in 1945.
